You can bring your bike yes, but you have to check with your airline company to know how it works. You don't have to register it if you come temporarily, but it's always good to have a sort of proof that your bike was bought abroad. However, we do not recommend bringing your own bike because it takes up a lot of space and you would have to bring it in trains etc., so we recommend renting one when you feel like biking 😊

Since October 2023, you can no longer buy your JR Pass in stations. But before that, buying your JRP online could save you time, because when you bought it in stations you had to queue longer and fill in more information on site 🙂

@@jamesnesran2348 you don't need to book seats for local trains and most of the shinkansen (they have unreserved seat cars) but for some special trains you have to book tickets and seats before boarding.
